Welcome To Platypus Reclayed Modding

Platypus Reclayed has been built from the ground up to support modding - in fact, the two built-in game modes (Platypus Reclayed and Platypus Classic) are essentially full conversions.

This site is where we will collect our documentation detailing how to install and make mods for the game. We're looking forward to seeing how the community uses the modding functionality and excited to see what others will build! We hope to grow this page over time so we can include links to community guides as players start exploring and developing their own mods.

Steam Workshop Support

Steam Workshop support is here! You should be able to browse mods on the workshop page and subscribe to those that interest you. After restarting the game they should appear in the mods menu. Note: large mods may take a little while for Steam to download. To create your own mod we've released the Platypus Reclayed Workshop Tool that uploads your mod to the workshop for sharing.

Manually Installing a Mod

Installing mods is now much easier through the Steam Workshop. However, the guide to installing and setting up mods and add-ons by hand can be found here:

Mod Migration

If you've made a mod previously, please see the follow document to understand what changes have been made to the game and how they may impact your mod:

Making a Mod

Here are guides that will get you started on your journey modding and experimenting with Platypus Reclayed!

So that you have all the files necesary to make modding accessible, install the Platypus Reclayed Workshop Tool, start it up and click the Starter Pack… button to get access to all the source assets from the main game. You can use these as reference and a starting point for your own mods.

Lua support

We've added entity behaviour customisation via Lua scripting! Check out the following doc and examples in the starter kit to get going.

Platypus Desert Mission Mod

To get the ball rolling, Anthony Flack has created a brand new mission for the game: Platypus Desert Mission. Download it from here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/platypus-desert-mission After playing and beating the mission we hope it will act as a learning resource on how to make your own levels and campaigns.
